Brighter Vision Alternatives (2026): What to Check Before You Switch
If you're searching for a Brighter Vision alternative, you're probably reacting to one of two things: the monthly bill, or the discovery of what the contract says you'd keep if you left. Both are worth reacting to. But switching website companies is real work, so before you do it, it's worth being precise about what you're paying now, what each alternative actually changes, and how to move without damaging the search standing you've built.
This is a fair comparison. Brighter Vision makes professional-looking sites and thousands of therapists use them happily; one of the honest options below is "stay." Every price here comes from the companies' own published pricing pages, checked in July 2026.
What Brighter Vision actually charges in 2026
Three published tiers: Start at $99/month, Grow at $179/month, Flourish at $349/month, with a $100 setup fee on Start and Grow (waived on Flourish). Annual billing brings those to $78, $143, and $299 a month. HIPAA-secure email and forms are a paid add-on through a Hushmail partnership, starting around $15/month.
The refund terms are narrower than most people assume. For annual subscribers, a refund is available only if you cancel before your first draft is built, and even then it's minus the setup fee, the first month, and a $100 cancellation fee. Monthly subscribers: no refunds, per their published policy.
Two things to their credit: the pricing is public, and their FAQ is explicit that your domain name stays 100% yours with no release fees. Hold every alternative to that same standard of clarity.
The one test that sorts every option
Ask of any provider, current or prospective: "If I stop paying tomorrow, what do I still have?"
With Brighter Vision, the published answer is: your domain name. The site itself (design, pages, the copy you spent evenings revising) was created under their service and stays theirs when you cancel. That's not a scam; it's the rental model working as written. But it means the thing you're comparing isn't really "website companies." It's renting versus owning, and each alternative below is one or the other. The alternatives, honestly
1. Stay, but switch to annual billing
If your site works, your rankings are good, and you genuinely value never thinking about it, staying is defensible. The premium buys someone else holding the responsibility. If you stay, do two things: move to annual billing (saves $252–$600/year on the two upper tiers), and confirm your domain is registered in an account you control. That single check protects you in every future scenario.
2. TherapySites: cheaper rent, same structure
TherapySites runs six tiers from $69 to $336 per month plus a $199 setup fee, with no long-term contracts. Month-to-month, cancel anytime, which is genuinely friendlier than an annual commitment. But the structure is the same rental: the website is theirs, and their domains run through register.com, so if you go this route, register the domain yourself, in your own name, and point it at their service. Switching from Brighter Vision to TherapySites changes your bill, not your ownership.
3. Do it yourself: Squarespace or Wix
Roughly $16–$39 per month, modern templates, and you own the account. The honest costs are your weekends and the compliance caveat: neither Squarespace nor Wix signs a HIPAA business associate agreement, so website forms must never collect client health information. Name, email, and "I'd like a consultation" is fine; anything clinical is not. If you enjoy this kind of work, a DIY site passes the ownership test at the lowest cash cost on this page. If you don't enjoy it, you'll feel it: sites built in a motivated weekend tend to stay exactly as they were that weekend.
4. A flat-fee build you own
Hire someone (a local designer, a freelancer, or a company like ours) to build the site once for a flat fee (typically $1,500–$5,000 for a practice site with booking and intake), with the work assigned to you in the contract. Add an optional care plan if you want a human keeping it updated and monitored. The word optional is what separates a service from rent: a care plan you can cancel without losing your site is a service. This route costs more up front than any rental and less than most of them by year three. The exit terms are the whole point: you leave with everything, because everything was yours from the start.

How to switch without losing your search standing
The order of operations matters more than the destination. Done wrong, a switch resets years of "therapist in your town" visibility.
- Confirm the domain first. Before anything else, verify the domain is registered to you, in your account. If it isn't, get that fixed while you're still a paying customer; it's dramatically easier than after.
- Save your content. Copy every page's text, download your images, screenshot the layouts. If your current contract says the copy isn't yours, you'll want your notes and drafts: rewrite rather than lift anything the contract assigns away.
- Build the new site completely before cancelling. Run both in parallel for a week. Never cancel first.
- Keep the same page addresses where you can, or set up redirects from the old addresses to the new ones on your domain. This is how the search standing follows you.
- Then cancel, per the notice terms in your agreement, and watch your contact form and booking link like a hawk for the first month.
