Hire me
Hire me for your technical needs.
I'm Max Goshay, a technology engineer in San Rafael. The Console is what I build for whole homes, but a lot of what I do is simpler and more direct: you have a technical problem, or a system you want built, and you want a capable person to just handle it. That's this page. $100 an hour, and I'd rather you feel you got a lot out of the time than watch the clock.
What I can do
The short version: if it has a plug, a login, or a protocol, I can probably help. The longer version:
- Build and integrate home systems. Lighting, water, cameras, climate, solar, energy, locks. Bring what you already own onto one screen, or design something new.
- Rescue a system nobody can program. Dealer gone, software lost, keypads frozen? That is my favorite kind of problem, and I have done it: a 1990s Lutron system, 157 loads, back to life over a serial cable.
- Write custom software. Monitoring, dashboards, automations, small tools built to fit how you actually work, not how some app assumes you do.
- Fix the everyday. Wifi and network trouble, a new device that won't behave, cameras and security, backups, accounts, getting properly set up online.
- Help you get organized. On your machines, your files, your accounts. Calm, patient, no jargon.
- Work with older clients. Unhurried, kind help with technology that has gotten frustrating, at your pace.
Where this comes from
I did not learn this from one job. I went to school for sound engineering, which is where I learned to think in signal flow and systems. I have built and run systems of a lot of kinds since: at Plenty, the indoor vertical-farming technology company, the day job was controlled-environment systems, the monitoring and control that keep a growing operation alive. Since 2018 I have managed high-end rental properties and built the digital systems they run on myself, including the accounting wired into the house's own water and security. So when I say I can build it, integrate it, or write the software for it, that is not a pitch. It is the work I already do.
How it works
Tell me what you have and what you want. I will give you an honest read: what it would take, whether it is even worth doing, and if the right answer is an electrician or a different specialist instead, I will tell you that too. The first visit is an assessment, and if it turns into a full console build, that visit credits toward it. Nothing is a sunk cost.
If it has a plug or a login, let's talk.
